IT has to change in the concept of libraries and the services they provide to beneficiaries, consequent bring change and development workers in libraries, it has become Libraries perfect place to create and deliver network services and databases of information with regard to the requirements and needs of the beneficiaries and in the storage and retrieval of information.

Librarians have realized that IT applications in libraries help reduce the effort and speed of delivery, but it needs a qualified person who can deal with this technology.

The study aimed to know the qualifications and requirements and new tasks, which is the responsibility of the librarian and the definition of the digital era and monitoring procedures and transformation of traditional libraries to digital libraries.

The researchers followed the descriptive analytical method and the case study method to study the Nileen University libraries and libraries Sudan University for Science and Technology.

The study found the number of the most important results of a comprehensive planning for the use of modern technology in libraries under study, but the lack of budgets prevented the training and qualification of librarians from the most of this technology to benefit, through which can librarian to keep pace with the requirements and questions of beneficiaries and information seekers.

The study made a number of recommendations including: The unification of the name of the entrance to the function responsible for the library in the digital environment, the formulation of criteria and the foundations agreed to adjust his work, creating relationships with international organizations and countries interested in majoring in information and libraries to provide assistance for the rehabilitation of Trustees and by giving them opportunities for training at home or abroad for optimal use of information technology and its applications in the field of libraries.
