This study aimed to identify the dietary behavior and lifestyle of cancer patients in Khartoum State.

The descriptive method was used.

The study sample included 120 persons (60 patients at the National Center for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine in Khartoum State and 60 non-patients) selected randomly.

The study was conducted during October 2011 to February 2012.

Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics.

The study found that, prevalence of colon cancer among females was higher than males; in the age range 31 -41 years.

The study found that respondents use plastic utensils for food preservation and they don’t read the expiry date of foods.

The study also found a clear difference between patients and non- patients in exposure to radiation, family member with cancer, smoking, pesticides stored with food.

The study also showed difference between non - patients and patients in dietary intake of food group's .The researchers believe that there is an urgent need to educate families on the health aspects of food, change oils, avoid smoking and storing pesticides with foods.
