This study aimed at identifying the requirements and benefits of the energy management system and working with the international standards related to the sustainable development of the Sonlegaz in Constantine and the benefits obtained from its application, as well as the role of the energy system in achieving sustainable development in addition to measuring and evaluating the energy management system In accordance with the International Standard ISO 50001 at the Sonlegaz Foundation in Constantine.

In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the self-assessment form was developed and distributed to the 17 employees and the energy directorate of the institution under study.

The study found the following results: A good application of the energy planning requirement to the energy management system.

In the Sonalgaz plant in Constantine.

This explains the application rate of 69.23 %.

The enterprise should exceed the registered weaknesses with the continuous pursuit of continuous improvement of the various activities of the institution so that it can provide the requirements of the application of the system of management of energy ISO50001 and benefit from the advantages of its application, This study recommends that the institution's energy management system administrator should have the skills and qualifications of the scientific and functional as well as the institution to work hard to obtain the certificate of ISO50001.
