The question of renting communal land presents a unique case study to study the operating system of men throughout history.

We will therefore try to clarify this ambiguity to the readers.

Our study deals with the case of the communal lands of Douar Messer attached to the mixed commune of Mekerra, in the district of sidi Bel Abbes.
