The agricultural sector is one of the important sectors of the national economy in Saudi Arabia.

It contributes in raising the economic level of the citizens and providing employment opportunities for the labour forces.

Further, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia produces about 1.3 million tons of palms and ranks second worldwide in the production of palms after the United Arab Emirates.

The kingdom provides incentive programs that support investment in palms and date production and processing.

The Saudi Arabian agricultural bank grants soft loans without interest to farmers for the purchase of agricultural irrigation systems and equipment, and facilitates the issuing of licenses for agricultural palm projects.

The importance of this study comes from the fact that it is one of the pioneer studies that have addressed the issue of the hidden investment and its impact on the economies of the production and marketing of palm and dates in Saudi Arabia.

The problemies in the fact that dates and palms production and marketing are largely controlled by foreign investors, but nevertheless there is a paucity in scientific research related to the hidden investment in palm and date production and marketing.

The research uses the descriptive and analytical methodology.

A simple random sampling has used in which 40 farm owners in the Qassim region were selected.

The study aims to shed light on the impact of the hidden investment on palm growing, production of dates as well as its impact on owners and the nationial economy.

The study found that there was a lack of research studies about the hidden investment, and therefore the sector lacks scientific research about this problem and its documentation, as well as clarify the negative impact of the hidden investment on the production of dates in the Saudi economy.
