Arabs have specific dietary restrictions which have an impact on what they consider permissible or prohibited in terms of food according to some Islamic jurisprudents, especially when nothing is mentioned in the Holy Quran or Sunna.

However, other jurisprudents have disagreed with them on these dietary restrictions and this led to opposed views.

In this study, I have dealt with the under-researched issue of Arabs dietary restrictions and its impact on the permission and prohibition of specific foods.

I have discussed the different arguments of the two groups of jurisprudents and then I have reached conclusions which I think are most substantiated with the evidence.

I have also discussed the secondary issue of how Arabs assume these dietary restrictions.

My objective in all this is to discuss that issue in an independent research, given the paramount importance of that issue in people’s lives since they experience it on a daily basis.

Besides, many new eating habits have been introduced to society from foreign communities, and this led to an expansion of new diets imported by those communities which do not necessarily correspond to what the Arabs permit or prohibit in terms of diets.

It is therefore necessary to establish the Islamic jurisprudence for those new diets.
