This paper attempts to trace the anti-hero and to analyze the types of anti-hero in the collection of short stories (The Back of the Horse – Dahr Al Faras) by Haytham Dabbor published in 2012.

The characters in these short stories are in contrast to a traditional narrative hero, who has positive features and qualities.

The heroes in the stories are negative even though they are different in terms of culture and class.

The main characters can be categorized as immoral heroes, weak heroes, heroes with inferior features, heroes with lost causes.

This study is concerned with analyzing the descriptive structures used in the formation of these characters, through situating these characters in degrading situations and constantly asscociating these characters with what can be considered as lower bodily stratum, undermining their ambitions, scumming them, and being reprimanded by other characters
