This paper attempts to explain the phenomenon of crying and tears in Al- Mutanabi’s poetry and the main reasons for such a phenomenon.

The researcher has identified the stylistic aspects on which the poet relies to express his crying and tears.

Moreover, the researcher is interested in words and expressions that have to do with crying and tears expressed in Al-Mutanabi’s poetry.

This essay has started with a theoretical introduction, and then points to the emergence of crying and tears in Al-Mutanabi’s poetry.

After that, the researcher explains the causes of crying and tears through counting the times the poet expresses his crying and tears and through counting the words associated with crying and tears.

The conclusion includes findings and recommendations.

The researcher concludes that crying and tears constitute a real phenomenon in Al- Mutanabi’s poetry of various genres.

This phenomenon has been apparent in the following areas/genres: first, crying and tears in Al-Mutanabi’s Al-Itlal Poetry (Standing by the Ruins); second, crying and tears in Al-Mutanabi’s Elegy; third, crying and tears in Al-Mutanabi’s Eulogy/Lampoon.

Finally, this study suggests that it is necessary to pay more attention to the aesthetic and stylistic aspects of Arabic poetry in general and in Al- Mutanabi’s poetry in particular as this poetry has powerfully aesthetic structures and features which connote deep meanings.
