Through setting necessary rules and regulations, all coastal states monitor their coasts and natural resources adjacent to such coasts.

Such rules include immigration, health, environment, hunting, customs rules etc.

Among the crucial means to ensure respect for such rules and regulations is the pursuit of violating ships.

A coastal state has the right to pursue violating ships, stop them, arrest them and launch investigations which is known as the right of hot pursuit.

UAE protects its coasts on Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman through enacting required legislations which provided for the right of hot pursuit allowing UAE to exercise its jurisdictions on a ship belonging to another state.

Hence it is practically crucial to throw spotlight on the legal aspects of the right to hot pursuit particularly in the light of UAE's non-accession to an international agreement providing for such right and the absence of any previous study on this issue.

The research aims to identify the legal grounds underpinning UAE's practice of such right; assess the extent of agreement of UAE's legislative system with rules governing the right to hot pursuit in the international law and finally put forward recommendations and suggestions for the development of exercising the right to hot pursuit.
