In contemporary Arabic literature, symbols play a major role in resistance poetry and have achieved a significant place in this literary genre.

Similar to Palestinian poets, the Lebanese poets have also utilized these symbols to describe the resistance and endurance of the people of their land.

Following the chaos caused by the Zionist regime’s aggression in Lebanese land in the early 80s, these events appeared in the works of various poets such as “Jawdat Fakhreddine”.

“Jawdat” has managed to successfully fulfill his role in resistance axis.

While dealing with the issue of resistance, he makes the greatest use of symbols.

By mingling philosophical and existentialist thoughts, he creates a style which is unique among Arabian poets.

The present research seeks to introduce Jawdat Fakhreddine one of the 70’s poets of Lebanese resistance known as Sothern Poets.

These symbols are divided into three categories.

As the results indicate, these symbols generally show two concepts of resistance and endurance and fighting against aggression.
