All praise is due to Allah, and may Allah exalt the mention and send peace to the Messenger.

To proceed: This is a research with the title: (Zabur according to the Islamic Sources, a compilation and study) I wanted to present Zabur, the book of Dawud (may peace be upon him) by examining the old Islamic sources, far away from the sources of the People of the Book that has been to distorted and changed.

The presentation of Zabur covered the following points: - Zabur according the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah.

- The reason that it was given this name.

- When and how Zabur was revealed.

- The content of Zabur.

- The texts of Zabur in the Islamic sources.

- Wahb bin Munabbihs translation of Zabur.

The research reached to a couple of results and the most important of them were as follows: 1.

Zabur is the book of Dawud.

Some parts of Zabur was revealed by Allah to Dawud and other parts of it are prayers and supplications that He inspired him to say.

The scholars differed about the reason why it was called Zabur.

4.

The whole book of Zabur was revealed at the same time, just as the former holy scriptures.

5.

Zabur was revealed, just like all of the holy scriptures, in the month Ramadan.

The scholars differed about which night it was revealed.

The following nights were mentioned: the 6:th, 11:th, 12:th, and 18:th of Ramadan.

Zabur includes 150 chapters in Hebrew.

Some of them are short and others are long.

The most common topics of Zabur are aphorisms, sermons, supplications to Allah and the praising of Him.

It also includes commandments, prohibitions and rules.

They are mentioned in some places clearly and in other places inclusively in the context of an admonition.

The texts of Zabur - which reached the Muslim scholars and were written down in their sources – discussed different subjects, including: the prediction that the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah exalt his mention and send peace to him) will come, his attributes and character.

It also contained descriptions of the his nation and their characteristic qualities, an appeal to have good manners and abandoning depravity, some commandments and prohibitions, aphorisms, proverbs, admonitions and the recompense for actions (either reward or punishment).

There is no full version for Zabur surviving in the known Islamic sources today.

The only existing parts of it are some dispersed paragraphs and they are varying in their length.

Wahb bin Munabbih translated Zabur and this translation is more reliable than the other old translations, but there is only very little of it that has reached us.

There is a clear difference between the texts of the Psalms that the People of the Book make frequent use of and the Zabur that the Muslim scholars got in hold of.

It might be that the reason for this difference is the variation of the translations or because of the distortions of the scriptures by the People of the Book when they tried to erase the truth concerning the prediction that the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah exalt his mention and send peace to him) will come.

12- Some of the texts in Zabur are similar and identical to the Holy Quran.

This is a proof that truth from Allah is one and that it doesn't change.
