The study aims at determining the theoritical framework of the total population, public expenditure and the historical development of each in Algeria during the period 1985/2016.

On the other hand, the study aims at identifying and analysing the impact of total population on public expenditures in Algeria during the period 1985/2016 in the both terms, short and longones.

The study found that there was an increase in both the total population and public expenditures in Algeria during the study period.

The study found also that there was a causal relationship in one direction from the total population to public expenditures and the existence a long and short term between the variables That is economically and statistically acceptable through self-regression model of the time gaps ARDL which is slawly distributed and that proved the total population impact on public expenditures in Algeria.

There was also a proof of the validity and stability of the model and its capacities and their consistency between the short and long term were demonstrated through the stability diagnostics test for the stability of the model.
