This study addressed as a subject “the problem of the partial transformation of traditional banks to Islamic banking – case of Saudi banking system –”, in order to know the concepts related to the shift towards Islamic banking, as well as the success or not for the Saudi experience in this area.

Where research is divided into two sections, through which we addressed: concepts related to the shift towards Islamic banking, aspects of the Saudi banking system, and financial products traded through.

The study found the great importance of the Saudi model, and it represents a typical experiment, but it is subject to the control of a central bank interest- based, and not as much depends on the method of financing participation, namely that the funding formulas less contribution to the financing of development.
