The will of the African countries to overcome the failures and to remedy the shortcomings and the inadequacies of the old African organization (OUA) facing conflicts and wars, which continue to ravage the continent, is behind the introduction of several innovations in the security structure of the African union.
Indeed, with the advent of the African union, the African doctrine as regards to peace and security has evolved substantially.
Thus, new principles, standards and measures have been adopted within the framework of the new continental organization (the UA), namely the recognition of the UA right of intervention and the introduction of a sanctions regime, thus marking a turning point and a new era for Africa regarding peace and security.
الملخص FRE
La volonté des pays africains de surmonter les échecs et de remédier aux insuffisances et lacunes de l'ancienne organisation africaine (OUA) face aux conflits et guerres qui continuent de ravager le continent, est à l'origine de l'introduction de plusieurs innovations dans le dispositif sécuritaire de l'Union africaine.
En effet, avec l'avènement de l'Union africaine, la doctrine africaine en matière de paix et de sécurité a considérablement évolué.
Ainsi, de nouveaux principes, normes et mesures ont été consacré dans le cadre de la nouvelle organisation continentale (l'UA), à savoir la reconnaissance du droit d'intervention à l'UA et l'instauration d'un régime de sanction, marquant ainsi un tournant et une nouvelle ère pour l'Afrique en matière de paix et de sécurité.
