Sustainable development aims to a complete organic link between the economy and the environment so that environmentally sustainable system must maintain a steady base of natural resources that avoid excessive depletion of renewable and non-renewable resources.

Sustainable development is no longer an intellectual luxury but has become a prerequisite for the achievement of justice and equity in the distribution of the fruits and gains of development between the generations.

Therefore the achievement of sustainable development requires paying attention to growth issues in general and the environment in particular، due to their relationship ، on the grounds that the environment is a set of conditions, factors and components that interact with living being، including human in a given space.

Accordingly، we have tried in this modest paper to highlight the reality of sustainable development in Algeria، as well as the problems faced، and the efforts made by the State in the development and use of renewable energy.
