Background and Objective: Recently some devices were produced for electronic detecting of jaw movements which are less complex and easier to use than its mechanical device predecessors, one of those is the Arcus Digma.

This research aims to determine the values of Arcus Digma device for measurements of mandibular movements in healthy people in order to be used later as a reference for comparison the values recorded for people with muscle disorders.

The study also aimed to test the validity and reliability of the device in the detection of movements of the jaw.

Methods and Materials: The research sample consisted of 20 healthy subjects aged between 20 and 36 years,with an average of 25 years.

Clinical examination was carried out according to the system diagnosis , Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders TMDs: RDC / TMD.

And then detecting the movements of the mandible were recorded using a device ArcusDigma and re- detecting for only 13 of them specifically condyle movement and Psselt’senvelope .

The values recorded for jaw movements during the clinical examination and in the course of analyzing by the device were entered into the program SPSS 19 to perform statistical analysis.

Since been studying the ability of the machine to reach the same results when re- detectingusing Wilcoxon signed ranks, a test match for t- test.

Results:TheShapiro-WilkTest showedthat the data were normallydistributedfor allvariablesstudiedexcept forme as uring the movements ofthe jawin extreme right in the second plots .

The study of validity showed no statistically significant differences between the values of the two plotsof mouth openingorthe maximumborder movementto the right or left withinthe significance levelP <0.05.

Conclusion:It wasfoundduring the studythat ArcusDigma has validity and reproducibility suitableto be consideredreliablediagnostic tool to dependupon indetecting\analysis movementsofthe jaw.
