Background : Non-small cell lung cancer is the leading calbrit of cancer-related deaths in the world.

Its 5- year survival is approximately 12 % when all stages are included.

The effective role of chemotherapy in treatment of patients with NSCLC is still vague.

Therefore, looking for the best scientific evidence for the efficiency of this treatment is of great importance.

This pilot study is an introduction to evaluate the two protocols adopted at al- Bayroni Hospital to treat advanced lung cancer STIIIB .

Methods : A retrospective study between January 2007 and March 2008 was conducded.

Patients records from al- Bayroni Hospital were reviewed (a sample is available).

16 potentially eligible patients received Cisplatin plus Vinorelbine and other 16 patients received Carboplatin plus Vinorelbine.

The two protocols were compared with respect to response, toxicity and LDH .

Results : No complete response to both Protocols was recorded.

Yet a partial response was noticed to recur more frequently in the (Cisplatin / Vinorelbine) combination compared with the (Carboplatin / Vinorelbine) combination.

this was statistically significant.

Regarding toxicity no significant statistical differences were depecded except for Neutropenia, which was significantly produced by (Cisplatin / Vinorelbine) combination.

Regarding Lactate dehydrogenase LDH, there was not any important statistical differences between the two groups.

Conclusion : The response to CDDP plus VNB is higher than that of CARBO plus VNB.

Drug toxicity is higher in CARBO plus VNB.
