The Algerian people have known a number of traditional forms similar to the art of the theater, including the theater of Karagoz, who entered and settled in Algeria since its accession to the Ottoman Empire, and developed and accompanied the most prominent events known to Algeria as a source of concern to the colonial authorities, which sa w it as a hidden incitement against the revolution against it.

This study aims at shedding light on the history of the art of %aragoz in Algeria.

It also aims at clarifying the most important topics which he presented through the observations and testimonies of some European travelers after the occupation who saw performances of this art in a number of Algerian cities.
