This study was conducted to determine the effect of adding sodium chloride (NaCl) and vitamin C to the drinking water of the Japanese jumbo quail (Jumbo Quail) in the age and weight of puberty and some physiological and production characteristics , The study was included one week age (216) chicks of brown Jumbo quail.

They were randomly distributed to six treatment with three replicates each one 12 chicks for each replicat.

the treatments as the following: T1 and T2 were added 1.5 and 2.5 gram (NaCl) to per liter of drinking water (RO), respectively, T3 and T4 treatments were added 1.5 and 2.5 gram (NaCl) respectively and 1 gram vitamin C to each 1 liter of drinking water (RO), T5 treatment was added 1 gram vitamin C to each 1 liter of drinking water (RO) and T6 treatment control, only drinking water (RO).

The results of the study showed that the male and female in T1 and T2 were delayed in the age of puberty compared to the other treatments , as well as decreased level of total protein, globulin and thyroxine hormone, in addition decreased of eggshell produced.

We conclude from the current study that the addition of sodium chloride at 1.5 and 2.5 grams per liter of drinking water has delayed the age of sexual maturity of males and females quail Jumbo quail as well as decreased blood proteins and eggshell while the addition of vitamin C to water with and without those concentrations of salt cause to early puberty, increased blood proteins, and improved egg production.
