The concept of security is not longer about the protection of the borders of the state from external aggression, it has had surely new implications such as environmental threats which become at top of many national agendas, also because it has been integrated into human security.

Algeria has launched, like many other states lot of reform measures, and legislations regulating the environment and ways to protect them, in an effort to promote environmental security, which is the key to sustainable development, furthermore, as a mechanism to ensure the right of citizens to a healthy environment and safe as cited by human rights texts The present paper, addresses the transformation in security research agendas and how changes had been endogenized into domestic politics of countries such as Algeria, it addresses too the ways Algeria seeks to attain the desired environmental security as a component of a sustainable development endeavor
