If philosophy represents the first field of attention of time as it is one of the most problematic issues that have held human thinking in the past and the present, and was a question of debates and discussions to the extent of controversy, confusion and surprise.

so this issue has also gained the attention of literary criticism, especially in modern and contemporary critical studies interested in narrative discourse analysis.

critics were very interested in the category of time especially "Gerard Ginette" who could manage a new model to study “time” in the narrative discourse, which was received and accepted widely in the contemporary critical studies.

this paper is an attempt to explore the main categories that form this model (arrangement, frequency, duration) specifying the different techniques of time deduced by "Gerard Ginette" through his study of the novel "in search of lost time" written by "marcel Proust.
