This article deals with the relationship between Henry Corbin and Heidegger’s thought, in order to bring out the reasons behind Corbin’s move from the sheer facticity of hermeneutic phenomenology, as he discovered it in the writings of the MeBkirch philosopher, to soufi and Islamic philosophical thought.

We show in this study that Corbin did not reject Heidegger outright, nor did he consider any of his sayings totally wrong or Lost affinity to Heidegger’s thought.

Cobrin actually kept all he gained from Heidegger on facticity and relied almost constantly on his kind of phenomenological method.

However, he did find a limit to Heidegger’s thought, which he sought to overcome, while keeping the phenomenological method of unveiling.

We will determine that such limit has to do with defining death and its meaning, and that what separates the two thinkers, on nearly every level of their respective thoughts, is the infinite as Corbin studied, understood and developed it in reading philosophical-Islamic texts.

Indeed, no sooner do we bring the infinite in as an interpreting concept that what unites and separates Heidegger and Corbin becomes clear, on the basic levels of language, man, death, the divine, the world and history, and that a surprising shift occurs from phenomenology being the key to mystical texts to the hermeneutic infinite becoming itself the key to phenomenology.
