الملخص EN

This study aimed at identifying patterns of subordinates' behavior and their relation to the behavior patterns of leaders as recognized by faculty members in public and private universities in northern Jordan.

In order to achieve the aims of the study, the descriptive methodology was used.

A questionnaire was administered to a stratified sample of 310 faculty members at (Yarmouk, JUST, Al-Bayt, Philadelphia, Ajloun National, Jerash and Irbid).

The validity and reliability of the two instruments have been verified.

Chi-Square Goodness of Fit was employed to compare the expected with the observed distribution of frequencies.

The results showed that the Exemplary type was the highest observed with a percentage of (89.4%) of the study sample, followed by the pragmatic pattern (10%) of the sample of the study and finally the Alienated and the negative pattern (0.3%) of the study sample.

The results showed that the most prevalent patterns of behavior of leaders are the empowering (39.4%), democratic (30%), and autocratic (28.7%).

The results showed that there was no statistically significant relationship between the patterns of behavior of the leaders and the patterns of subordinates' behavior, with a chi-square value of 3.15 and a statistical significance of (0.789).

In light of these results, the study recommends activating the role of subordinates in the leadership process, because they have an effective effect in achieving better results, and conducting related research.
