الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimed at investigating the role of Agricultural Cooperatives in achieving rural development in the middle province in Jordan ( Amman, Zarqa, Balqaa, and Madaba Governorates ).

The results of the study showed that the farmers who were involved in the AC activities are in an average age which enables them to participate actively in the required agricultural activities.

The results also showed that plant production is the main agricultural activity in the study area.

The results revealed that the farmers were with good experience and education level and they joined the cooperatives for a long period which was reflected positively on the performance of these cooperatives.

The results also revealed that the level of the agricultural cooperatives in achieving rural development was medium and tended to be low.

The study recommended that actions should be adopted to raise the level of farmers' participation in the agricultural cooperatives in the investigated area.

The government should be involved actively in supporting these cooperatives.

More research should be oriented towards the agricultural cooperative activities in Jordan.
