The water situation in Algeria is witnessing a significant deterioration due to climate change and excessive consumption of fresh water in many industrial and agricultural activities.

The problem of water is not limited to scarcity but extends to quality.

Water pollution is a serious phenomenon that threatens to lose a large part of the available water resources, it Arises from industrial waste or agricultural waste water containing significant amounts of fertilizer waste.

In addition to the natural factors, the water sector in Algeria suffers from shortcomings related to the institutional and legal aspects and the methods of administrative management.

This leads us to investigate the legal system that defines the rules of use and management of this resource in the context of sustainable development, as well as the search for the institutional tools that achieve this development in strategic resource.

In this study, we will deal with the importance of sustainable development and its relation to water resources.

We will then refer to the Algerian situation and how to preserve this sensitive resource
