Old cities are subjected to many changes at the present time that occur in the form of projects for urban development and affect the urban structure negatively on both the urban level and the social level or its historical and functional dimension, as well as many changes to the uses of urban land, which directly affected its tissues Old architecture and character that characterized it.

These projects will not sympathize with the characteristics of these cities, as they will cause the removal of parts of the city as well as changes to be made on the architectural level of the buildings built within these cities or on their borders.

The result would be the loss of the special and distinctive identity of these cities, which are not related to the old reality.

Hence, the problem of research to emphasize the negative effects that urban development projects will bring about a change in the structural formula of the old cities.

The study aims to study and analyze these projects and develop a set of standards or controls for the development of urban development projects to avoid negative changes to the structure of these cities.

The hypothesis of the research confirms that the application of a set of standards and controls for the establishment of projects leads to the protection of old cities from changes that affect the urban structure.

The research methodology was based on the analytical descriptive approach to these projects and resulted in a change in the structure of these cities taking into account the importance of these cities in terms of their nature and the elements of attraction therein.
