This study aims at exploring the characteristics of knowledge society and the struggles Arab societies face while transitioning through it from the members of Jordan Library and Information Association’s point of view.

The study was conducted using a method of descriptive research.

The data was collected through a questionnaire that consists of 38 paragraphs discussing the characteristics of knowledge society alongside 18 paragraphs discussing the struggles facing the Arab communities during the process of transitioning to knowledge society.

The study population consists of 267 members of the total number of Jordan library an information association.

The sample of the study consists of 193 members (72 %).

The results of the study revealed that the most important characteristics of the knowledge society are knowledge distribution, knowledge production, practicing knowledge in real life areas, knowledge sharing, and knowledge marketing.

The results also showed that the main problems facing the Arab society are the lack of interest in developing the pre-existing knowledge in the human brain, the absence of motivations, the lack of an infrastructure on knowledge in the society, and the gap between the capabilities and the ambitions.

The study ends with some recommendations.
