The article presents and analyzes three medieval chapels of Kfour el-Aarbi, a village located in the upper valley of Nahr Joz, in the district of Batroun in Lebanon.
The ruins of Mar Elias and Mar Doumit offer the example of a church with two naves and two transversely paired apses, one belonging to the Greek Orthodox and the other to the Maronites.
Saydet Saqi, now mostly buried under rubble, probably had three naves with traces of murals in the apses; it was probably a monastic chapel.
Mar Girios is a relatively well-preserved rupestrian church nestled in the rocky escarpment that dominates the village to the north.
It is formed of four vaulted bays which end on the east with an apse hidden by an iconostasis wall.
Its function is difficult to identify: was it a hermitage or a place of pilgrimage?

L’article présente et analyse trois chapelles médiévales de Kfour el-Aarbi, village situé dans la haute vallée de du Nahr Joz, dans le district de Batroun au Liban.
Les ruines de Mar Elias et Mar Doumit nous offre l’exemple d’une église à deux nefs et deux absides transversalement jumelées, l’une appartenant aux grecs-orthodoxes l’autre aux maronites.
Saydet Saqi, en grande partie ensevelie sous les décombres, avait probablement trois nefs avec des traces de peintures murales dans les absides.
Il s’agissait probablement d’une chapelle monastique.
Mar Girios est en revanche une installation rupestre relativement bien conservée et nichée dans l’escarpement rocheux qui domine le village au nord.
Elle est formée de quatre travées voûtées d’arête qui se terminent à l’est par une abside cachée par un mur d’iconostase.
Sa fonction est difficile à préciser: ermitage ou lieu de pèlerinage?
