دور مؤسسات التعليم العالي في تنمية الوعي الاقتصادي لدى الشباب في ظل الظروف الاقتصادية غير المستقرة في دول المنطقة : رؤية مقترحة

This study aims to examine the reality of the role played by higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman in the development of economic awareness among youths in light of the unstable economic situations in the Arab Gulf region.

The study also proposes recommended ways to strengthen this role and to achieve the goals of higher education in order to create conscious generation contributes effectively to the community service and comprehensive development.

A random sample was chosen of ten public and private higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman in the academic year 2017.

The study adopted a descriptive approach to achieve its objectives, using a scientific interview with a random sample of 22 students from these ten institutions.

The study results show a low level of the role played by higher education institutions in the Sultanate in the development of economic awareness among the students, and there is a need for more awareness programs and activities to enhance the economic culture in higher education institutions.

The study highlights a number of challenges that weaken the role played by these institutions in the development of economic awareness, and also reveals certain suggestions provided by students to reinforce the effectiveness of the role.

The current research provides a set of recommendations on the levels of: the Ministry of Higher Education, and higher education institutions, students, and community institutions and bodies to promote the effectiveness of the role played by higher education institutions in the development of economic awareness among youths.
