The process of selecting and locating marine structures is one of the most important stages of planning and designing as it greatly affects the type of marine facility and its working conditions and sustainability.

The objective of this study is to provide a suitable working environment for a port of LPG vessels with a total load of up to 20,000 tons, The factors influencing the selection of an ideal location of a seaport in the city of Mukalla were studied.

This port is concerned with the transportation and shipping of liquefied gas and some other public purposes.

The study was proposed in the Gulf of Brom region near the city of Mukalla (25 km) due to the availability of many geographical and natural features in the site, The Gulf is partially protected by two capes as well as the waterfront that serves the planning and designing of a seaport as well as the important strategic location on the Arabian Sea.

The conditions affecting the site selection process such as wind, waves and topography of the coast and the seabed, have been identified.

The operational and functional requirements of the port were determined and the design vessel and its basic operational characteristics were determined such as the engineering and submersible dimensions, the space required for the ship's movement and other requirements.

Data on these factors were then collected and analyzed to arrive at the appropriate site selection.

The study could prove the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed location of the seaport.

This was done by discussing and analyzing the data and comparing it with the basic requirements and conditions for locating the maritime structures and the operational and functional requirements of the port.

The master plan of the marine structures (pier and breakwater) is designed.
