When looking at the library of the Holy Quran, we find ourselves sailing in an ocean of unlimited horizon, looking for new flawless publications of books, studies and researches written about the Holy Quran and on Prophet Muhammad (Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his immaculate progeny).

Unfortunately, publications of such a quality did not exist yet; and this is quite justifiable, taking into account the humans’ limited mental abilities that stand helpless in front of the miracles of our Creator (glorified and exalted He be).

Despite acknowledging this fact, we keep digging deep in search for the ultimate knowledge which our God and His Messenger command us to seek from cradle to grave ! Consequently, I have started preparing a cultural and scientific study that aims at shedding light on the literate status of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to prove the wrong and unjust claim that he was unable to read and write.

It is commonsense that the person who is chosen by Allah (glorified and exalted He be) to impart His words should at least be capable of reading and writing.

For it is naïve to think that Allah (glorified and exalted He be) chooses an illiterate person to deliver His miracle which rests on reading and writing.

This study, therefore, will prove that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was able to read and write from the early stages of his life and this was one of the features that enabled him to be an actively influential member of his society .

To achieve the aims of this study, the following procedures will be adopted : 1- Raising questions related to the framework of the research which are answered in the course of the study and in the reader's mind .

2- Reviewing the evolution of the human language which we believe to be inspired to the first human being, i.

Adam, and we totally reject the unsound opinions that man was evolved from apes or birds .

3- Surveying some relevant Quranic texts as well as the historical events which document the evolution of writing and reading in order to correct the misconceptions we find in some texts .

We hope that by adopting these procedures we will objectively disclose the related facts in defence of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to win Allah’s acceptance and content.

We believe that spreading the sound facts will serve researchers, readers and knowledge seekers.
