This study aims to analyze the impacts of Ovakoy Border Gate Project on the Turkish-Iraqi relations.

The Ovakoy Project will influence the relations between Ankara and Baghdad in various fields.

Economically, the both countries will find chances to expand their ongoing commercial activites.

Implementing an alternative gate to the Habur border gate will lessen the transportation cost and enhance the control of the central government in the region.

Politically the project will influence not only the relations between Turkey and the Central Government but also the relations between Turkey and Regional Government (KRG) in Erbil.

Similarly governments in Baghdad and Erbil will have to adjust their positions.

A secure and direct trade route will contribute to stabilization in the region and lead to increasing control of the central government in the northen part of Iraq.

In this scenario Turkey will gain ground to fight against PKK terror in Sinjar region.
