This study aims to recognize the role played by voluntary work in attainment of social responsibility.

It further aims to identify the differences between voluntary work and attainment of social responsibility according to variables of the study.

Moreover, the study aims to recognize the most significant motives behind voluntary work, fields and obstacles in voluntary work, together with the most important domains of social responsibility among members of the sample group.

To this aim, the researcher has designed a questionnaire composed of 86 statements in order to measure the motives behind volunteering, fields of volunteering, obstacles holding back voluntary work, in addition to the domains of social responsibility.

Sample group of the study was composed of 220 individuals, from both genders, in the city of Jeddah.

Findings of the study revealed a direct correlation between voluntary work and attainment of social responsibility among members of the sample group.

It further pointed out at statistically indicated differences between the motives of voluntary work on one hand and domains of social responsibility on the other hand according to variables of the study.

The study concluded that the most important motives behind voluntary work among members of the sample group were attributed to social, religious and ethical reasons, respectively.

The most significant reasons holding back members of the sample group from voluntary work were lack of experience and practice as a volunteer, together with lack of marketing campaigns about available domains of voluntary, and missing training programs specifically designed for volunteers.

The study also revealed that the domain of services was the most domain for voluntary work among members of the sample group.

The domain of healthcare came in the second rank.

The study further concluded that the most important domains of social responsibility among members of the sample group were religious and ethical responsibility, then national responsibility, and eventually the self-responsibility.

In view of findings of the study, the researcher made a number of recommendations.

The most important recommendations was the use of technology, visual and audio mass media to shed light on voluntary work and organizations working in the domain, the skills gained by the volunteer, and the benefits derived by the society.

The researcher also recommended design of training programs for society establishments such as family, mosques, and educational institutions, on enhancement of social responsibility among young people.
