In the 1930s, Tunisia had known a clear rooting in its national movement, especially the new Tunisian Constitutional Party, which led the political fight in Tunisia since it split from the free Constitutional Party in 1934 until the independence in 1956.

This party expanded its base by establishing many constitutional cells and branches, it also worked to address the masses which were oppressed and that were affiliated with the French trade unions, and who were demanding the improvement of their social status, and for that it established the first Tunisian trade union “General Confederation of Tunisian Workers” in 1924, but it failed to meet their demands, so the new constitutional party was obliged to absorb the public anger in general and the movement of labour in the second union experience in 1937 , as a result a lot of protests and strikes were organized by political divan and the new constitutional party, suddenly a new union experience appeared on the political area despite the fact that the events of 1938 were not yet forgotten, it was created under the conditions of second world war which was the result of the poor economic and social situation.

As a result of the black political and social picture, the Tunisien General Union of Labour was founded in 1946 by the trade union leader Ferhat Hached .

The Tunisian General Union of Labour and the New Constitutional Party had organized a series of protests and strikes as a big reaction against the French authority which ended mostly with dead, wounded and detainees in the ranks of the Constitutional Union, especially in1952, where the trade union leader Ferhat Hached was killed by the Red Hand Organization.

These bloody events were a sign of the beginning of the armed struggle in order to get the independence.
