The question of representations lies at the core of teaching / learning process and is indeed an old issue in so far as the starting point for all learning is based on representations.
In the context of this paper, we are interested in grammar not as an object to be learned by the learner, but as a “constructed/built grammar” by the learner himself through representations conveyed by pupils.
What are the representations that Algerian learners maintain on the French grammar, How do they consider/ view it? Do representations made by learners affect their language practices? Are they likely to be one among other causes of difficulties they face in learning grammar?

La question des représentations se situe au coeur de l’enseignement / apprentissage et constitue en effet, un vieux problème dans la mesure où le point de départ de tout apprentissage se fonde sur les représentations.
Dans le cadre de notre article, nous nous intéressons à la grammaire non pas comme objet à apprendre par l’apprenant, mais comme « grammaire construite » par l’apprenant lui-même, au moyen des représentations véhiculées par des jeunes scolarisés.
Quelles sont les représentations qu’entretiennent les apprenants algériens sur la grammaire française, et comment la considèrent-ils ? Les représentations dont sont porteurs des apprenants agissent- elles sur leurs pratiques langagières ? Sont-elles susceptibles d’être une des causes des difficultés ou blocage qu’ils rencontrent au niveau de l’apprentissage de la grammaire ?
