The study aimed to identify the current situation of archiving in Information science department in King Saud University and tried to design a proposed model for an electronic archive by using the information technology and its applications.

The descriptive approach was used in this study by drawing on the corresponding tools interview and observations to identify the status of the current archiving in the Department of Information Science.

The study also designed a checklist of the most important criteria and characteristics of electronic archiving to identify the achievement of the proposed archive.

The study recommended that: the department or university should establish a formal and clear policy for archiving (both traditional and electronic documents).

Also, recommended activating the proposed model in the department and the rest of the departments until the university provides an electronic archiving system.

In addition, providing training courses and workshops for the employees for this archive to deal with it if the proposed model has been adopted and applied by the department.
