The research aimed to identify the candidate of marriage and the criteria on which the young man and girl choose their partner as well as determine the significance of the relationship between the characteristics of the respondents and their opinion on the importance of the criteria of marriage choice.The study was conducted on a sample of 200 respondents from rural youth, half of them male and half of the females randomly selected from the status of the membership of the Youth Center in the center of Badrashin district in Giza Governorate.

The questionnaire was prepared for this purpose and the data were collected during the interview January and February 2017.

Data analysis was also used for numerical data tables, percentages, weighted average, chi square test, and Pearson's simple correlation coefficient.

The most important findings were as follows: 1.

The vast majority of male and female respondents make their own choices, with 63% and 70% respectively.

The most important criteria for choosing a husband are: to enjoy the dignity and manhood, religiosity and good manners, from a good family, true body with no disabilities, a rational man who behaves wisely, has a suitable educational qualification, a strong cohesive family, handsome and elegant in his appearance, from the same village.

The most important criteria for choosing a wife are: virginity (daughter of pennot), of good origin, religiosity and good manners, family of love, selfconfidence and thinking, possessing a suitable educational qualification, strong family cohesive, easy dowry, good health, And diseases, from a cohesive family with no differences.

The existence of a significant relationship between the educational level and the professional status of male respondents and their opinion on the importance of criteria for choosing a wife.

A significant relationship was found between the professional status, the type of family of female respondents and their opinion on the importance of husband selection criteria.
