Acheulian is "the Handaxe Industry".

It is the most widespread Industry of the Lower Paleolithic.

It is divided culturally and technically into three stages: Lower, Middle and Upper Acheulian.

All of them are presented in Arabia as this region is relatively rich in the sites of this era, especially in the southwestern region.

However, Arabian Acheulian is considered Middle Acheulian in general.

The Arabian sites are associated with the deposits of ancient lakes, dry wadi banks and terraces as well as coastal plains.

The majority of the Arabian Acheulian sites are superficial, therefore the chronological sequence for this area relied on technical and typological classifications of the tools in the absence of reliable dates based on radiometric methods and the lack of stratified sites.
