Dictionaries are considered- of different types and different areas-of the most reliable sources in carrying out any linguistic or literary research; it is the solid foundation for the consolidation of linguistic research, through the graduation of language definitions of terms, explain vocabulary, they are also rich fountains to extract specialized knowledge in literary research; the researcher relies on knowledge of the terms and concepts of this field, accurate knowledge is sufficient to make it difficult to resort to intermediate references.

In this context comes the research to address the problem of reluctance of researchers to employ dictionaries in academic research; on the basis of highlighting the status of these works in enriching linguistic and literary research, and identify the most important difficulties which object to their use of general and specialized dictionaries in university research, while trying to propose a number of solutions to overcome this problem.
