Background and Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of resin matrix type and finishing/polishing system on the color stability of Composite.

Materials and Methods: 60 cylindrical discs were prepared using a teflon mold (5mm diameter,2mm height) of two methacrylate-based composite (Filtek Z250XT-3M ESPE) - (Charisma-Heraerus Kulzer), and one Silorane - based composite (Filtek P90-3M ESPE), 20 specimens of each, and were light cured by (Elipar -3M ESPE -1000 mw/cm2-20 seconds).

Specimens were stored in distilled water for 24h.

Each material group was divided into 2 subgroups (n=10) according to the finishing /polishing system used (Sof- lex Spiral Wheels- 3M ESPE) and (Astropol-Ivoclar Vivadent).

The color of each specimen was measured before the exposure using a spectrophotometer (VITA Easy Shade Compact-VITA Zahnfabrik) .Specimens were immersed in distilled water for 30 days and the color of each specimen was measured after the exposure and color change (∆E) was obtained using the same device.

Results were statistically analyzed by One-Way ANOVA, Bonferroni, and t-student tests at the significance level of (p<0.05).

Results: The Mean value of Sof-lex Spiral Wheels (£E =3.64) was statistically different from Astropol (∆=5.07) in the Methacrylate-based composite, (Filtek Z250XT) group.

No significant differences were depicted between Astropol and Sof-lex Spiral Wheels in the other composite groups (Filtek P90) and (Charisma).

The Mean AE value of the Methacrylate-based composite Charisma (∆=E =5.80) was statistically different from the Methacrylate-based composite (Filtek Z250XT) (∆E =3.64) and the Silorane-based composite (Filtek P90) (∆E =3.79) in Sof-lex Spiral Wheels finishing /polishing group.

No significant differences were depicted between the three composite groups in Astropol finishing /polishing group.

Conclusions: Methacrylate-based composite with nanofillers (Filtek Z250XT) showed better color stability when finished with aluminum oxide, than disc of rubber cups.

Methacrylate-based composite with microglass fillers (Charisma) showed the lowest color stability between other composite groups that were finished with aluminum oxide - containing disc.
