This research aims at identifying the use of land in the city of Jeddah: Case status of afforestation projects by studying the current status of afforestation projects and comparing them with previous periods, and to clarify the difference of the effect of natural and human factors on increasing or decreasing the allocated areas for afforestation projects on the sub-municipality level in the study area.

Which provides us with an integrated vision to know the required balance between land uses and the environmental role of afforestation projects on the natural and human sides.

The study consisted of four chapters: the first chapter dealt with the general framework of the study, the second chapter dealt with uses of land in the study area and the factors affecting them, while the third chapter dealt with the disclosure of afforestation projects, using matching and analysis tool, and the fourth chapter, included results, conclusions and recommendations.

This research was based on the descriptive approach to the geographical topics related to the study area and afforestation projects and the detection of the factors affecting them, in addition to the approach of spatial analysis of satellite visuals by using satellite images in order to reach the research objectives.

The research has reached several results the most important of which is the marked increase of the allocated areas for afforestation projects in the study area during the years 1985-2000-2015, as it is concentrated in the middle and west of the region, while the share of sub-municipalities is reduced whenever we move to the south and east of the study area in uneven and unequal distribution of afforestation projects between neighborhoods.

The study recommended the need to pay attention to afforestation projects and work to increase them in quantity and quality, ensure fair distribution between sub-municipalities, provide periodic maintenance, in addition to investing natural vegetation areas, and conduct joint work with the private sector in this sector.

We note here that the study of land uses as a part of afforestation projects has multiple topics on the natural and human sectors, as this research is considered complementary to previous efforts and ideas station for future work.
