The Fertile Crescent is a region which containing fertile lands, forms a quarter-moon (Crescent) shape, extends from Aqaba Gulf in west to Arabian Gulf in east, including Mesopotamia and Phoenician coast.

The term was first coined by American Archaeologist "James Henry Breasted" as he mentioned in his book (Ancient times) 1916 that there is no a geographical or political name called the region that gathers in semi circle, so when we talk about this part we have to determine a name, thus we call the fertile crescent in our book, and since this time the name becoming commonly used".Semitic people left Arabian peninsula by reason of aridity and immigrated to fertile crescent ,where they established many ancient civilizations, so the fertile crescent has hosted them .

People those settled the region until the end of 1000 B.C.
