This study focused on some psychological factors that can contribute to drivers committing traffic accidents, unrealistic optimism means the positive anticipation of future events, so that the individual waits for the best and excludes the worst, which can lead to un anticipated results that may expose him to risks, So, this study aimed to identify the contribution of unrealistic optimism among drivers who have committed and who have not committed traffic accidents.

The purpusive sample of causal comparative study consisted of 400 drivers, (196 of them have committed a traffic accident and 204 of them have not committed it).

The study tool is unrealistic optimism questionnaire by Mohamed Badr EL- ANsari.

The study found the following results: - There are no statistical significant differences on unrealistic optimism between the average degree of drivers who have committed and who have not committed traffic accidents - There are no statistical significant differences on the professional and social aspect of unrealistic optimism between the average degree of drivers who have committed and who have not committed traffic accidents.

- There are no statistical significant differences on the financial aspect of unrealistic optimism between the average degree of drivers who have committed and who have not committed traffic accidents.

- There are statistical significant differences on health aspect of unrealistic optimism between the average degree of drivers who have committed and who have not committed traffic accidents.
