The research problem is that it seeks to identify the impact of compliance with the principles of governance on the efficiency of the performance of banks in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its work, which affects the level of efficiency of the banking sector as a whole.

the research aims to achieve the main objective is to identify the impact of the commitment to apply the principles of governance on efficiency of performance of banks in Saudi Arabia through the achievement of a set of sub-objectives namely to identify the terms and concepts related to the subject of the study, to identify the reality of the application of banks in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the principles and standards of governance.

the study sample is based on the management of six banks operating in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia who answered the survey questionnaire and conducted a number of personal interviews with them.

the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to compute and analyze the data.

the study concluded with a set of results, namely, the need for banks 'management to maintain shareholders' rights, safeguard the rights of stakeholders, carry out their responsibilities efficiently and effectively, provide the highest levels of disclosure and transparency, the study also concluded that supervisors should perform their responsibilities efficiently and effectively, which leads to transparency and efficiency in banking performance.

the study also found a significant correlation between the variable commitment to apply the principles of governance and the efficiency of banks in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
