الملخص EN

The aim of this article is to highlight the impact of the selection of the project site on the competitiveness of the Algerian industrial institution.

To this end, a set of hypotheses were formulated, a semi-structured interview form was designed, in addition to a conduction of a series of interviews with officials in the institution under study reinforced with direct observation.

The study concluded that the most important factor influencing the selection of project’s site was proximity to raw material, which is the main component in the product structure in order to avoid costs of transferring it to the site.

Based on results, the following proposals were made: First, Lafarge should take advantage of proximity to universities to employ workers with high levels of education; Second, it should establish and develop a vigilant cell within the institution that includes all departments to monitor information about customers and competitors.
