This study aimed at investigating the motives for the use of Twitter by students in university and students in schools its relationship to their academic achievement.

To achieve the purposes of the study, the sample consisted of 1200 undergraduate students of Princess Nourah University and students in schools .Tthe study used a questionnaire measure students' motives for using the Twitter.

The findings of the study revealed that the main purposes for using Twitter by university* students were entertainment and following up scientific developments.

But the motives of students in school towards using twitter is different to search of information and knowing modern techniques .

Furthermore, there was an inverse correlation between student's academic achievement and the use of the Twitter in the areas of entertainment, communication with friends, and follow-up developments.

A number of recommendations were provided in the light of these findings.

Among the recommendations of the research are, holding interviews and dialogues that show the correct way for students to use Twitter in a way that does not effect on their achievement.

Also, doing other similar studies in other classes and stages with different variables such as introversion, social self-concept, and healthy variables.
