Taking notes is, in its conception, a technique that enables the university learner to acquire new knowledge.
It is generally used in a lecture in which the task of the student primarily depends on the listening of a sound message then its written reproduction under the form of notes ; thus, the student will distinguish the main or the most important message while highlighting, at the macro-structural level, the strong «moments» (definitions, explanations, demons-trations...), and while working, at the macro-structural level, on the diaphonic elements (causal relations, methods...).
Therefore, it will be question of making the learners aware of the acoustic, lexical signs,...
In brief, all that can enhance the important character of what is said.
The student will have to know how to take his notes by sorting them among all that was said and to follow a whole set of methodological instructions for a good and exhaustive notes taking.

La prise de notes est dans sa conception une technique pouvant permettre à l’apprenant universitaire de s’approprier des connaissances nouvelles.
Elle se réalise le plus souvent dans un cours magistral où la tâche de l’étudiant est essentiellement liée à l’écoute d’un message sonore puis à sa reproduction écrite sous forme de notes ; ainsi il distinguera l’essentiel ou l’important en mettant en évidence au niveau macro-structurel des « moments » forts (définitions, explications, démonstrations....) et en travaillant au niveau micro-structurel sur les éléments diaphoriques (les relations causales, les modalités....).
Il s’agira donc de sensibiliser les apprenants aux indices acoustiques, lexicaux, bref à tout ce qui peut activer le caractère important de ce qui est dit : il devra savoir élaguer ses notes par un tri parmi tout ce qui a été dit et suivre toute une série de consignes méthodologiques pour une bonne prise de notes exhaustive.
