Modern technology has contributed to the creation of new research questions, especially in the field of information and communication sciences.

During the last period of 20th century and the beginning of the twenty-first century, digital contributed to the emergence of advanced research questions, especially with the birth of online journalism and the spread of modern communication media such as laptop, smartphone and tablet.

Then, we started later talking about the social media that has become part of the scientific projects of researchers in social sciences in general and in information science and communication in particular.

This led us to analyze the content of three scientific journals, in which social media were the focus of the research methods adopted by researchers.

We also conducted a number of interviews with researchers from the Arab world, Europe and America.

The results of our research confirmed that researchers have maintained the same research methods to answer the problematics of their research, which were focused on social media.
