The purpose of this article is to examine the theory that the contribution of Arabs in the area of transfer of Greek knowledge and scientific output was insignificant.

this theory refers to a linguistic criterion according to which the distance between the indo- European languages and the Semitic languages.

we have shown that the foundation of this theory is ideological, and is an aspect of a "scholarly islamophobia".

we came to the conclusion that the language issue was not an obstacle for the Arabs to adapt the specificity of their language to the universal character of wisdom and Greek knowledge.
