This study aimed to develop the postgraduate diploma of education at the University of Hail in the light of the comparison with the Postgraduate Certificate in Education programs at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom as unique programs that are highly ranked nationally.

The study adopted the comparative research approach as the appropriate methodology.

It focused on studying teacher training programs at the two universities regarding their (vision, general aims, objectives, contents, teaching and training strategies, and evaluation).

The findings showed some similarities between the two universities programs regarding the vision and objectives and some important differences in the programs structures and pathways, entry requirements, courses contents, and school placement training.

The most important differences were found in the programs structure as at Exeter there are several pathways within each program to prepare specialized teachers in each subject such as English language, humanities, math, science, and teaching and learning.

Also, the school placement training at Exeter aims to provide trainees with maximized practical experience through training in more than one school and working in peer groups in order to think critically about teaching and develop self-evaluation sense for their performance.

The study recommended reviewing the program entry requirements at the University of Hail, and giving more attention to educational research skills among the students and developing practical training stages and processes.
